Prof. Girishwar Misra
Founder
Girishwar Misra , Ph.D. is former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha (Maharashtra) a Central University. Earlier he has served as Professor of Psychology at the University of Delhi for two decades. He has taught at the Universities of Bhopal, Allahabad and Gorakhpur. He also has worked as a visiting Professor at the Ruhr University Germany.
He is a recipient of UGC Career Award, Jawaharlal Nehru National Award by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Hari Singh Gaur awardee for research in social sciences by M.P. Council of science and Technology, Madhya Pradesh, Govind Ballabh Pant Award by the Ministry of Home affairs, Government of India, Radhakrishnan award by the Higher education Commission, Madhya Pradesh. He has also been a Fulbright Senior Fellow at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Swarthmore College, Philadelphia; ESRC Fellow at Sussex University, UK; Fulbright-Nehru Scholar and Lecturer at New School of Social Research, New York. He also earned Fellowship of National Academy of Psychology, India.
He has various publications in national and international journals including American Psychologist, International Journal of Psychology, Psychology and Developing Societies, and International Journal of Behavioural Development. He has been chief Editor of 5th and 6th ICSSR Surveys in Psychology and his major publications include Psychological Consequences of Prolonged Deprivation (NPC, with L.B.Tripathi), Deprivation: Its Social Roots and Psychological Consequences (CONCEPT, with D.Sinha and RC Tripathi)Applied Social Psychology in India( SAGE,, Perspectives on Indigenous Psychology (CONCEPT,with A.K. Professor Misra has served as the President of National Academy of Psychology, India; Chief Editor Psychological Studies (Springer) for 16 years; Editorial Fellow, Project on History of Indian Science, Culture and Philosophy and National Fellow of the Indian Council of Social Science Research.
